“You don’t have to just cope. You can win!”

Chapter 01
Not just hormones.
In my early fifties, I used to be tired all the time and pegged that on changing hormones. It gradually increased and the I started feeling pain in my joints. Unable to cope with the fatigue and the pain, I consulted our family doctor who was quick to diagnose it as Rheumatoid Arthritis! I was a little skeptical since I didn’t I was old enough to get arthritis. (We usually tend to associate it with much older people). But here I was, facing the beginning of this auto immune disease that effectively has no cure. My immune system was attacking me and the only thing I could do was alleviate the pain.
Chapter Two
There is relief!
With rest, exercise, a drastic lifestyle change, change in diet and of course medication, living with it has become bearable. I’ve learned that certain foods aggravate the pain and swelling in my joints and some food keeps the pain at bay. It’s been an uphill task but I’m happy to say that although I have some good days and some very bad days, the bad days are few and far between. The pain management has become easier and I’d be remiss if I didn’t say, that it’s difficult but it can be done.
Everybody has a story to tell. What's yours?
